Change Your Life!
Running is something that I always looked upon as insane. And also something that only the insanely fit people could do. So, imagine my surprise when I found myself thinking about giving it a try. I had been working out regularly for 5 or 6 months, and had built up a good amount of cardio-respiratory endurance thanks to my elliptical. I was starting to feel the need to try something different, and I kept hearing "run" in the back of my mind. Having suffered from chronic asthma my whole life (but moreso until I reached 25) I just wasn't sure if it would be possible or not. But the thought was intriguing and wouldn't go away. So finally, after many months of thinking about it and putting it off, I went on my first run in March 2010. It was slow, but I was running (jogging, really). I was hooked from the start. I didn't know how far I'd go with it, but I knew that it was at least something else I could do for my cardio workouts instead of always doing the elliptical. 2 months later I ran my very first official 5K, and I haven't slowed down since then! I've now completed 2-5K's, 1-10K, and 2 half-marathons. In 2011, I will be running 2 or 3 more 5K's and half marathons, and my very first full marathon (in November).
Running has turned into a huge passion of mine, and I love to learn as much about it as I can. I also love to talk about it, but most importantly I just love to RUN.
